Thelma J. Sleight

Hillsboro, Ore. - Thelma Jo Sleight, formerly of Washougal, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in Portland. She was 82.

Mrs. Sleight was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Billings, Okla.

She worked for Cessna Aircraft in Hutchinson, Kan., and moved to Clark County in the 1940's. She worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills for 20 years, before caring for children in her home for several years. She loved cooking and boating.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Toner of Gaston, Ore., one son, Jeff of Vancouver; three brothers, Vernon Barnes of Wamego, Kan., and James Barnes and Robert Barnes, both of Hutchinson., one sister, Delores Harbaugh of Hutchinson; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald, in 2000.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. Inurnment will be in Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
