Oswald Henry Bennett was born Nov. 27, 1906, in Springhill to Noah William Bennett and Lydia Ann Dale Bennett.

He was the third of 13 children. He worked for Hugh Biggs and the 320 Ranch as a guide in Gallatin Canyon. He later had a ranch at the Gallatin Gateway.

He owned a machine shop on Bridger drive. Os owned the first Ford tractor dealership in Gallatin County.

He married Helen Irene Plum on Dec. 30, 1950. He had nine sisters and three brothers: Ester Callantine Bariether, Evaline Callantine Mitchell, Emma Long, Martha McGuire, Lydia Christianson, Sarah Hopkins (Yuma, Ariz.), Lillie Ann Thompson, Susie Craig Dorsey, Betty Connor, Wilfred Bennett, Argyle Bennett and Theodore Bennett (twin of Betty), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by five sisters: Evaline, Martha, Sarah, Susie and Betty.

Os enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and playing cards. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Eagles and the Belgrade Masons.

A graveside service will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
