Bertha "Bert" Walters was the daughter of Nancy Emmarine "Emma" Foster and Josiah Lewis "Joe" Walters. She was born in Russell County, Kentucky, where she lived until her family moved to Wayne County, Kentucky in the late 1890's. After the death of her father, Bert, her mother, and some of her 10 siblings moved to Iowa.

Bert married Mack Crockett and had a daughter, Elsie. After Bert and Mack divorced, Bert married John Keith. I believe they also had a daughter, Maxine. Bert and John had lived in Bedford, Iowa since 1931. Bert is remembered as a kind, loving, Christain lady who was a dedicated mother, wife, and sister.
