Three Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs Harry Reynolds Met Death Sunday
Gene, the three-year old son of Mr and Mrs Harry Reynolds who reside on the Johnson place just south of the intersection of highways 69 and 3, a half mile west of Leon, was almost instantly killed Sunday afternoon about 5:30 p.m. when struck by a car driven by B. F. Rogers, Kellerton druggist.
Unknown to his mother the little fellow had slipped out of her sight and was on his way across the highway to the ball ground where he intended to pick up bottle caps that the children were in the habit of doing. At the roadside the little fellow became confused and ran directly in front of the Rogers car. Mr Rogers stopped at once and picked up the child who was still breathing. He was taken to the Leon hospital where he passed away in a few minutes. Roy Beavers was standing near the entrance to the ball ground and witnessed the accident.
Mr Rogers was not held as the accident was unavoidable. Harry Reynolds father of the child, was not at home at the time. He is employed by the Miller Construction Company on the grading job over near Tama. He came home early Monday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.
The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of everyone.
