Hill City -- Edwin J. "Eddie" Appelhans, 75, Hill City, died Sunday, July 16, 2006. Mr. Appelhans was born July 4, 1931, in Graham County.

He was a heavy-equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of Hill City; two sons, Frankie of Hill City and Gilbert of Perryton, Texas; two daughters, Theresa Owens and Connie Flax, both of WaKeeney; six sisters, Eleanor Dinkel of Morland, Sister Gilberta of Concordia, Louella Zerr and Rose Heier, both of Hoxie, Mary Evers of Norman, Okla., and Clara Dinkel of Hill City; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hill City. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Hill City. A wake will be at 7 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may be made for Masses or to Hospice of Graham County Hospital. Visitation will be from 2 to 5:30 p.m. today at Stinemetz Funeral Home, 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City 67642, and 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.
