He was born December 22, 1923 in Cummings, Kansas, to Harry and Minnie May (Azbill) Gardiner. He and his wife Nancy married on August 19, 1963.
Rev. Gardiner was a Presbyterian Minister. He served parishes in Butler, Missouri, Astoria, the Eugene Springfield area and Troy, New York. He also directed a doctoral studies program for Columbia Seminary, Decator, Georgia. He served in the European theater of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Thomas of Oregon City and Peter of Eugene; four sisters; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A daughter Lynda Ausland, died previously.
