The daughter of Julian & Mary Smith of TN, late of Logan Co AR, Martha married Alexander Hamilton Armstrong on 13 May 1866 in Prairie Co AR, the son of Reverend Thomas & Matilda (Gunter) Armstrong. She was his second wife and they had five children, two sons and three daughters.

As seen on the 1880 Census, Martha's younger brother Joseph lived for a time with them. This is was how I was able to locate and confirm her parents.

Per a family friend, "Martha's tombstone no longer exists, but there are stones surrounding her plot." According to the photo, there is a small stone next to Alexander. Whether or not this belongs to Martha cannot be as yet determined.

Many thanks to L.C. Williams for the photo. Although there is a tombstone indicated to the left of Alexander, it is illegible.
