On April 7, 1885 in Illischestie, Elizabeth married her first husband, Johann ("John") Roos/Rose. In 1884 or 1886, along with her husband, some brothers-in-law, father and step-mother-in-law, and her husband's aunt, she emigrated from Bremerhaven, Germany to Galveston, Texas. The group went first to Ellis County, Kansas, then on to Lewis County, WA.
Together Elizabeth and John had four children:

On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1898, Elizabeth's husband John, a logger, died tragically in a logging accident.
On December 18, 1899, in Chehalis, Elizabeth married Peter "Pete" Hogenson (born Aug 1854, in Sweden - died 1939).
Together Elizabeth and Pete had a son Oscar A. Hogenson (Dec 8, 1901 Pe Ell - June, 1982 Camano City, Snohomish, WA).
Elizabeth was Lutheran. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and Women of Woodcraft.
