Brady R. Houghland Sr.

Brady R. Houghland a former Pinckneyville resident, passed away at the Doctors Nursing Home in Salem, Ill. where he had resided for the past five years; May 27, 1979 at the age of 80 years.

Mr. Houghland was born in Pinckneyville, Il. Nov. 5, 1898, the son of Cullen and Sarah (Crider) Houghland.

He was united in marriage to Hazel Scronce and to this union was born seven children.
His wife preceded him in death, also preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Brady, George, and Jerry; four brothers and two sisters.

He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of WWII.

Survivors are three sons, Murel Dean (MY GRANDFATHER) of Swarnick, Il.; William of Dearborn, Michigan; and Neil Jackson of Rock Island, Il., one daughter, Betty Louise Hindy of Fowlerville, Michigan; eight grandchildren; one sister Effie Place and one half sister Ella Ginn both of Pinckneyville.

Friends may call at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville after 5 P.M. on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 30, 1979 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Shaw DeMent officiating, with interment in Mueller Hill Cemetery.
