Murel Dean Houghland of Sparta, Il. a former Pinckneyville resident passed away at the Pinckneyville Community hospital August 19, 1983 at the age of 63 years.
Dean was born in Pinckneyville, Ill. Feb. 7, 1920 the son of Brady and Hazel (Scronce) Houghland. He was a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and a veteran of WWII serving in the army air corps.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Ronnie (Vicki) Alexander of Peoria, Il., two sons, Don of Pinckneyville and Richard of Colorado. Nine grandchildren, one sister Betty Louis Hindy of Fowlerville, Michigan; two brothers William of Dearborn Michigan and Neil of Rock Island, Il. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Monday, August 22, 1983 at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Charles Boling officiating with interment in the Mueller Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Pyatt Funeral Home after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday.
Military Graveside rites will be at the cemetery.
