POWER, Billy William P. Power, 89, formerly of Worcester, died Thurs., Feb. 25 in his Westboro home. World War II veteran. An exceptional figure in New England tennis circles for a large part of the 20th century and a member of the USTA New England Hall of Fame. Ranked first in 14 New England tennis divisions during his long playing career. His wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Northridge) Power, died in 2004. He leaves four children, Nancy Gill and her husband Joseph of Westboro, William P. Power Jr. and Linda Power of Carmel, Ind., Ellen Barry and her husband Philip of Holden, and Susan Tanner and her husband Michael of Westboro; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Gertrude M. Dean of Harwich Port. His dear companion, Mary Jean Ashton, died Feb. 18. Calling hours Tues., March 2, 4-7 p.m. at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. Funeral Mass Wednesday, March 3 at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tenacity Inc. 367 Western Ave. Brighton, MA 02135.
