He graduated from Menominee High School in 1964 and worked for a few years at Badger Paper Mills in Peshtigo. He then moved to Waukesha and recently retired from Briggs and Straton after 30 years of service.
Among survivors are his wife Marilyn (neeGunville) of 42 years;
his mother Helen Ahrens;
a daughter Tanya (Grant) Pozorski;
a son Pete (Stacey Behrens) Ahrens;
three grandchildren;
three brothers: Walter (Pat) Ahrens, Eugene (Helen) Ahrens and Jeff Ahrens;
two sisters: Geraldine (Vince) Michalak and Patti (Steve) Bertram;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vern (Gregg) Groleau, Bill (Edith) Gunville, Deb (Harry) Kattleman and Clare (John) Hallfrisch
and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 6, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home in New Berlin.
