Funeral for Virginia Merle Newsom, who died Monday, December 7, 1998, at Decatur General Hospital, will be held today (Thursday), December 10. The 11 a.m. service is to be at Roselawn Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. W.K. Stephenson and Gene Lankford officiating.
Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Newsom was born in Trinity. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Newsom. She was a former hostess at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Lee Newsom of Rockville, Md.; three brothers, Tennis Bass of Hillsboro, Neil Bass of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mary D. Terry of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Nephews were the pallbearers.
