Alice was the second daughter of five children born, at Nankin Mills Wayne Co MI, to Alvah D. and Almyra Wilkinson.
7 Nov 1871 she married Arthur W. Lanning, son of Richard and Eliza Booth Lanning, both originally of Steuben Co NY. Their marriage was blessed with children; Lela Maude, Roy Andrew, Harry Arthur and Volney Omar Lanning.
Mrs. Lanning had been a resident of Brighton since 1875, when she and her late husband moved here from Wayne county. They lived with his father, Richard Lanning, who built the building across from the depot known as the Railroad Hotel, at the time the railroad came through Brighton.
Mr. Lanning was a Blacksmith by trade and owned a shop where the Brighton recreation bowling alley is now located. They also lived many years on five acres of land near the Wesleyan Methodist church. In 1911 they built the house on North Second Street where she resided unit her death.

Mrs. A. Lanning, pioneer Brighton resident, passed away during her sleep about 3:30 Saturday afternoon, November 25, at the age of 97 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Wesleyan Methodist Church, the Rev. E.L Crocker officiating, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Lanning had been a resident since 1875, when she and her late husband moved here from Wayne county. They lived with his father, Richard Lanning, who built the building across from the depot known as the Railroad Hotel, at the time the railroad came through Brighton.

Alice C. Wilkinson was born April 21, 1853 at Nankin Mills, Wayne County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wilkinson. In 1870 she married Arthur Lanning, and to this couple were born, Lela, Harry and Volney, all deceased, and Roy. The latter moved here from Detroit four years ago with his family to care for his mother.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Charles, Paul, Helen, Dorothy (Mrs. Wunderlick), Jack, Raymond and Richard, also 21 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.Daughter of Alvah D. Wilkinson & Almyra (Bush) Wilkinson, sister of Isaac Byron Wilkinson [Mary], John Q. Wilkinson [Mary], Harriett Wilkinson, Franklin Wilkinson [Esther]. Married to Arthur William Lanning.
