He was born December 22, 1891 in Random Lake, Wisconsin, the son of the late Oscar and Rosa (Lens) Clauss.
On March 6, 1912 Wilbert was united in marriage to Gena Pollock in the town of Hutchins. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five daughters, Marion (Henry) Wickman, town of Hutchins, Lillian (Herb) Wickman, Birnamwood, Margaret (Earl) Vaughn, Hatley, Doris (Charles) Allen, Neenah and Joyce (Royal) Kielman, Bowler; one son, Russell Clauss, town of Hutchins; one foster son, Larry Kenyon, town of Hutchins; 37 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Bessie (Armond) Bauer, Birnamwood, Ethel (Ray) Willing, Iron Mountain, MI, Lucy (Frank) Gasser, town of Hutchins, Erma (Alfred) Bossell, Mattoon and Bernice Hinke, Milwaukee; and one brother, Clarence Clauss, Milwaukee.
Funeral services were held September 20, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. The Rev. Lorenz Buuck officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Hutchins.
