Wife of 1)John Gregory McKinnon; 2)John Stilson

Cooperstown Otsego Farmer, Friday, Jan 27, 1911

Mrs Harriet Stilson, one of the highest esteemed and beloved citiens of Otego died at her home in that place at an early hour Friday morning of last week.

Mrs Stilson was born in the town of Otego, on the farm now owned and occupied by H E Robbins, on the 26th day of December 1826, to the late George and Esther Birdsall. She has always resided in the vicinity of Bainbridge, Masonville and Otego.

Early in life she became the wife of John G McKinnon. of Masonville. who died in November 1859. Two sons were born of this union. Charles, who died in 1889, and George McKinnon, who survives. In 1875 she was again married, taking as her second husband John Stilson who lived until lS8f». Since Mr Stil«on's death she had made her home with her sister. Mrs. Phemelia Hoytt, in this village.

She was an active member of the Immanuel church, where she was loved by all her fellow members for the kindly heart and for her earnest efforts to do good.

Mrs Stilson received injuries to the neck and back, some time ago from a fall on the ice, but from which she had apparently recovvered. A short time ago a cold developed which gradually took the form of bronchitis, for which she had been under the doctor's care. She was supposedly improved in health when she retired Thursday night, but an attack of heart failure in the night was more than her frail constitution could withstand and she parsed away at an early hour on Friday morning.

She is survived by one son, George McKinnon of Ausable Forks, three stepsons, Charles Stilson, of Otego, George Stiison of Binghamton and Harry Stilson of New York city, two sisters,' Mrs Phermelia Hoyt, of this village and Mrs A Mather of Albany, also one grandson, Hugh McKinnon of Ausable Forks.

The funeral was held from her late home Monday afternoon, the service being conducted by W C Sherman, and the remains laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery,
