William Abraham Jones, a prominent farmer, died at his home on Route 49 a mile north of Willow Hill, IL, Tuesday evening, following an extended illness. Death was due to the infirmities of age.
Mr. Jones was born near Brockville,IL, October 12, 1862, and had resided all of his life in the vicinity of Willow Hill except for three years before he was married. He married Rachel Rebecca Cox on April 4, 1888 in Jasper County. They went to housekeeping on a farm near Bethany church, moving to the vicinity of Willow Hill many years ago, where he has since made his home.
He leaves three sons and one daughter, Vernie A. Jones of Newton, Everett G and Otto W Jones of Willow Hill, and Mrs. Ida Laws of Chicago; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grand-children; and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Butler of Janesville. His wife, Mrs. Rachel Jones, preceded him in death in 1932.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star at Willow Hill and was active as long as his health permitted.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Mound Methodist church and burial was in the nearby cemetery. The Rev. L.A. Magill of Lawrenceville, a former pastor, officiated. The Masonic lodge was in charge of services at the grave.
