Martha Meyer
Martha Marie Meyer, daughter of William and Wilhelmine Von Fange, was born Feb. 3, 1891, at Lincoln, Kan. She was baptized in St. John Lutheran church on March 22, 1891, by Pastor John Hahn. On April 16, 1905, she was received into the communicant membership of the church by the rite of confirmation. On May 4, 1919, she entered the holy estate of matrimony with Carl H. Meyer of Lincoln, at the St. Paul's church of Lincoln. This union was blessed with five children, all living: Raymond Meyer, Mrs. Doris Brodin, Mrs. Florence Winter of Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. Gladys Reinert of Lincoln; Eldon Meyer in the U.S. Navy. As a faithful and devout Christian mother she dedicated her life to serving the Lord through care, love and devotion to her loving husband and children.
In December 1949 she became seriously ill and entered the Hertzler Clinic of Halstead, Kan. At that time the Lord granted her remarkable relief until January of 1953. Thereafter she gradually failed in health until the Lord called her from this vale of tears on Oct. 16, 1953.
Besides her husband and children she is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Lena Wolting, Miss Emma Von Fange, Alvin Von Fange of Lincoln; Mrs. August Pfortmueller of Natoma; Wm. Von Fange of Farmington, Mo. There are also eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was conducted from St. John Lutheran church on Oct. 20, 1953, by the Rev. H.C. Lubeck, and burial was made in the church cemetery.
