Was born to Joseph J. and Florence Colgan Shane. He married Barbara Reed, then later married Mary Jane Godsil. She died on Oct. 12, 1995. He is survived by two sons: Donald Reed and Richard Dean Shane, one daughter, Teresa Lynn Greenstreet. Four step-sons James, Donald, Willian, and John Godsil, and one step-daughter, Sallie Conlin. Three brothers: Leonard, Edmund, and Maurice Shane, and five sisters: Mary McGarvey, Dolores Donovan, Anne Donovan, Joan Sendelbach, and Helen Sendelbach. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He was a chef in various cafes in Galeburg. Also had worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and farmed in the Monmouth area. He was a Navy veteran of World War II S1 US Navy.
