Mary Elizabeth Owen, 76, of 329 E. Baker Street, wife of Aaron L. Owen, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21, 2010.

Born in Dahlonega, GA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lulu Fricks Strickland.

Mrs. Owen was a homemaker and was attending Lakeview Baptist Church in Pickens.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Rev. Roger L. Owen (Nellie) of Pickens, Linda Massingale (Terry) of Anderson, Hon. David Owen (Jenny) of Pickens, Gary Owen (Sherry) of Pickens and Wayne Owen (Teresa) of Pickens; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Lorene Carruth and Jessie Woods both of Dahlonega, GA and Juanita Dockery of Cleveland, GA. She was predeceased by a brother, A.J. Strickland and a sister, Fannie Woods.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be the grandsons.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home.
