A.J. "T Model" Strickland, 65, of Dahlonega died Friday at New Horizons North Nursing Home, Gainesville following an extended illness.

Born in Lumpkin County to the late James Arthur and Lula Fricks Strickland, he was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Strickland; and sister, Fannie Marie Wood.

Survivors include his son, Chris Strickland, Dahlonega; daughters, Carol Strickland, and Becky Higdon, both of Dahlonega, and Shannon and Justin Yeager, San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Jessie Wood and Lorene Carruth, both of Dahlonega, Juanita Dockery, Cleveland and Mary Owens, Pickens, S.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until the time of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007, in the chapel of Banister Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Dahlonega Memorial Park.
