Michael C. Sweeney was born on November 5, 1901, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Michael G. Sweeney and Catherine Polt, and the brother of Theresa (Sister M. Florentine, IHM), Cyril Eugene, Edgar, Catherine, Robert, and Charles Richard. He served in WWI.
Michael married Anna G. Walsh in 1925, in Scranton, and they were the parents of six sons: Michael, Paul, Robert, William, James and Eugene. He worked in the diesel shops of the Lackawanna Railroad prior to retirement.
Michael died on March 4, 1958 at St. Mary's Hospital in Scranton, and was buried in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
