Stenger Services Sunday Afternoon, Christian Church
Services for Henry Edward Stenger, 68, were at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the First Christian church after his death march 19 in a Clinton hospital. He had been in failing health the past 10 years and was seriously ill for 10 days. Rev. Harry O. Hubbard, minister, conducted the services and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery under direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home.
Mr. Stenger was born Jan. 7, 1884, near Houston, Mo. On Dec. 16, 1908, he was united in marriage to Julia Harding near Apache by Rev. W.A.R. Lovell, christian minister, and to them five children were born. For many years the family lived in the community south of Carnegie. As a boy he became a member of the German Lutheran church in Houston. He was a charter member of the Alden Royal Neighbors and also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Survivors are his children, Mrs. Louise Monroe, Mrs. Florence Charles and Edward and Bill Stenger, Carnegie, and Alvin Stenger, Dallas, and five grandsons. Also a sister, Mrs. Louise Waltermire, Earlton, Kan., and three brothers, J.W. Stenger, Springfield, Mo.; Otto Stenger, Ozark, Mo., and Fred Stenger of Houston, Mo., and many other close relatives survive.
Among relatives from a distance here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Stenger, Ozark, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Balden and daughter, Rachel, and Sgt. and Mrs. James Harding, Enid; Mrs. E.R. Harding, Mrs. Ray Murphy and Kirtley Harding, Hydro, and Mrs. Forrest Dolen, E.W. Lesch and Henry Lesch of Apache.
