Pfc. Walter Morris Wallace, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Wallace, of Chipco St., died Feb. 5, in Italy, of wounds received in action. Official notification was received from the war department by his parents. Private Wallace was born in Tampa and attended Hillsborough high school. He was a member of the 116th field artillery, and was inducted when that unit was mobilized. After a year in the army he volunteered for the parachute troops, and was trained at Fort Benning and Fort Bragg. He went overseas in May, 1943 and saw action in the invasion of Sicily, and at Salerno, Naples and on other Italian fronts. Besides his parents survivors are three brothers, Roy W. Wallace, of Philadelphia, Corp. Tandy Marvin Wallace, overseas, and S1/c Robert M. Wallace, at Whiting field, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Rose, of Tampa.
