Funeral service for Mrs. Hazel Louise Townsend, 71, of Lunenburg, was held yesterday afternoon in Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. J.M. Slack officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Townsend died Saturday at her home at 105 Townsend Street. Born in Garden Lots, she was a daughter of the late George and Cerilla (Himmelman) Myra.
She was a past president of the Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch No. 23, Lunenburg, and the True Blue Lodge and Rebekah Lodge.
She was a member of the Senior Citizens and Golden Youth Clubs.
Surviving are her husband, Captain R.W. Townsend; a daughter, Diane (Mrs. Robert L. Cann), Winnipeg; a brother, Bernard, Manchester, Mass.; five sisters, Mrs. Hilda Robert, Lowell, Mass.; Mrs. Gertrude Shaffer, Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. Alice M. Walsh, Lowell, Mass.; Mrs. Beatrice Abbott, Osborne Harbour; Phyllis (Mrs. Roy Meisner), Garden lots; and two granddaughters.
