After having almost recovered from a broken leg sustained when he fell from a cherry tree on June 10, John R. Durbin, 54, of Wind Ridge, died of a heart attack Thursday night, July 31, 1941, at 11:30, in his home at Wind Ridge.

Born August 29, 1886, at Wind Ridge, Mr. Durbin was a lifelong resident of that community where he was well known as a painter and carpenter. A son of the late Hughes and Jane McGlumphy Durbin, he married Irma Durbin in 1913, who survives him. Mr. Durbin was a member of the Wind Ridge Christian Church.

Two children, Miss Lucy E. Durbin, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Wray E. Durbin, of Wind Ridge, survive, in addition to two brothers, Ralph D. Durbin, of New Florence and Thomas Durbin, of Wind Ridge. One sister, Nellie Durbin Monroe, died May 27, 1941. One granddaughter, Judith Anne Durbin, also survives.
