Final Rites Held for G. W. Mullins At Tilton Methodist
Services were held in the Tilton Methodist church Friday afternoon at three o'clock for G. W. Mullins, lifelong resident of the Tilton community and retired farmer. Mr. Mullins, who was eighty-one, died Tuesday night in the Lawrence County hospital in Monticello where he had been carried that morning at an early hour. He had been in failing health. Special music for the funeral service was by a quartet composed of W. H. Nelson, W. J. Nelson, Rev. F. E. Sellers and Jere Thames who sang songs requested by Mr. Mullins. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Sauls Valley Baptist Church. He had been married twice and leaves his second wife. He also leaves the following sons: W. V. Mullins, Gardner Mullins, Joel Mullins, Bert Mullins, Edwin Mullins and Donnie Mullins, all of Route Three, Monticello; Arthur Mullins and Malcolm Mullins both of Columbia and three daughters; Mrs. Johnnie Foster, Miss Betty Mullins and Miss Phyllis Mullins, all of near Monticello and Mrs. Leone Hathorn, Oakvale, Mrs. Edna Rogers and Mrs. Nona Robbins, both of Columbia. He also leaves twenty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Tilton church cemetery with Colonial Funeral Home of Columbia in charge.
