Edward was the first of four children born to Edward James Willman, II, and Sophia Fredericka Gutman. On 20 Jul 1942 he married Eleanor Nolden and they had two daughters: Kay and Ann. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Along with his brother Paul, Edward owned and ran the plumbing company (E.J. Willman & Sons) that was founded by their grandfather, Edward James Willman, I. Edward died of uremia at Clark Memorial Hospital at the age of 84.

Edward was cremated and his ashes were scattered by family members at Diamond Head, Hawaii.
