Paul was the youngest of four children born to Edward James Willman, II, and Sophia Fredericka Gutman. On 14 Sep 1949 he married Alpha Murphy and they had four children: Paul, Gail, Eric and Melanie. Alpha died in 1965 and, two years later on 14 Feb 1967, he married Betty Lou Thomas. They had one son, James. Along with his brother Edward, Paul owned and ran the plumbing company (E.J. Willman & Sons) that was founded by their grandfather, Edward James Willman, I. In 1973 he bought out his brothers' half of the business and he successfully ran the company until his retirement.
