Anna Bullis, 102 Historian

"Anna A. Bullis of Long Eddy, a homemaker and historian, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal. She was 102 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ira and Minnie Merwin Rivenburg, she was born December 2, 1903 in Starlight, Pa.
She was the widow of Elmer D. Bullis.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Long Eddy, and the Basket Historical Society of the Upper Delaware, where she enjoyed sharing her memories of the history of the hamlet.
In 2001, an engraved bluestone slab was unveiled at the society's museum in Long Eddy, dedicating a flower garden and stonelaid patio which was named "Anna's Garden," in honor of Anna's dedication to preserving the history of the area. Her recollections from her school days when she attended a four-room schoolhouse in Long Eddy, of the raftsmen she saw on the river, and the Flood of 1933, were shared with a grateful audience of those who value the heritage of the river valley.
She was an avid golfer and golfed into her mid-nineties. She enjoyed drawing and her artwork was mostly miniature pictures of many local places.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, MaryLou and Robert Hanson; grandchildren, Daphne Brinser, Laurie Knyrim, and Lee HouseKnecht; great-grandchildren, Brian Brinser, Kelly Knyrim, Ashley HouseKnecht, and Nicholas Seitzer.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Grayce Frey and Betty HouseKnecht; a son, Thomas Laird; and a grandson, Daniel Frey.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 24 at St. Patrick's Church, Long Eddy. Father Ignatius Smith, OFM, will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Long Eddy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Basket Historical Society of the Upper Delaware, Long Eddy, NY 12760."
