Elizabeth Griffiths Edmonds

Elizabeth Griffith was born in England August 10, 1845 passed away at the old home near McLouth, Kansas, April 8, 1930 aged 84 years, 7 months and 29 days.
At the age of four years she came to America with her parents settling in Pennsylvania, later moving to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin at which place she was united in marriage to Thomas Edmonds May 8, 1865.
soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds moved to Kansas establishing a home in Jefferson County. Nine children were born to the union. Her husband and two children preceded her in death. Seven children survive and mourn the passing of a good mother. The children who are living are: W. T. Elijah and Ralph of McLouth, Kas., Mrs. Rachel Edmonds of Parsons, Kans., A. J. Edmonds of Powell, Wyo., guy Edmonds of Leavenworth, Kans., and T. V. Edmonds of Lawrence, Kans. There are 28 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Edmonds also has one surviving sister Mrs. Jennie Sheldon of Winchester, Kansas
Uncle Thomas and Aunt Lizzie as they were affectionately known, were charter members of the first United Brethren class in Jefferson county, organized at Round Grove. When in after years it became necessary to build a church they lent their influence and support to the erection of the Edmonds Chapel.
