Ethel Virginia Buzzerd Adams was the second of eight children born to Frank Abernathy Buzzerd and Emma Tamsin Crouse Buzzerd. Her family ran the telephone switchboard for Bath (Berkeley Springs), West Virginia. She married Lawrence Wilson Adams on December 24, 1931 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, at age 15. She gave birth to their only child, Lawrence Wilson Adams Jr. on October 11, 1943. Following several strokes she was left paralyzed and bed-ridden and unable to speak. She became a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home in York, Pennsylvania. She resided there until her death on November 2, 1981. During her stay at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, her husband visited her every single day, no matter what the weather.

She was a member of the Hanover Evangelical Free Church in Hanover, Pennsylvnia.

She was survived by her husband, Lawrence Wilson Adams Sr., her only child, Lawrence Wilson Adams Jr., a daughter-in-law, two grandsons and one granddaughter. She was also survived by four sisters:

Blanche Buzzerd Wagner of Forrest Hills, MD
Geneva Buzzerd Orlando of Baltimore, MD
Frances Roberta "Bobbie" Buzzerd Sasser of Baltimore, MD

She was preceded in death by her parents and the following sisters and brother:
Julia Marie Buzzerd Brooks (in ????)
George William Buzzerd (in 1978)
Lola Belle Buzzerd Kunkle (in 1979)

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home in Hanover, with the Rev. Ray Turnbaugh and the Rev. John Light, officiating. Interment will be in the Penn Memorial Gardens, Hanover, Pennsylvania. Friends may call Thursday evening at Wetzel Funeral Home.
