FUNERAL SERVICES
FOR J. H. BRUNS

Funeral services for John Henry Bruns of O'Neill were held here Thursday last week, with a family service at the Nicholas Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. and public service at St. John's Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. K. H. Tiemann. Burial was made in Palmer cemetery.

St. John's choir sang three selections during the funeral service.

Pall bearers were John Kamper, Herman Kamper, John Dankert, Gerhardt Dankert, Albert Bruns and Gerhardt Bruns. They are nephews of the deceased. Flower assistants were Mrs. LeRoy Rudolf, Mrs. Donald L. Calkins, Mrs. Robert Nietfeld and Miss Elaine Hageman.

Reaching the age of 82 years and 21 days, Mr. Bruns died December 20, at the Methodist hospital in Souix [sic] City, which he had entered a week previous for surgery. He was born November 29, 1872. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Worms and became a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Palmer in the year 1901. He was united in marriage to Johanna Janssen in the year of 1896. She preceded him in death in April 1904. In 1909 he was united in marriage with Laura Marie Zillman.

He lived in the Palmer vicinity until 1918, when he and his family moved to Atkinson, Nebraska. Since retiring from farming, he has made his home at O'Neill, Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Fred W. Bruns of Sargent, Nebraska, and five daughters:

Mrs. Alma Hageman of Wentworth, Mo.; Mrs. Martha Rudolf of Palmer; Mrs. Connie Callaway of Ainsworth, Nebr.; Mrs. Irma Redd of O'Neill, Nebr.; Mrs. Richard Hunt of Rose, Nebr.; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and many friends and relatives. One son, John G., preceded him in death.
