March 24, 1928 - August 25, 2010. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Fay Lara, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born in Enterprise, West Virginia, sister of 13 siblings, Fay spent the majority of her life in Phoenix, Arizona.

Loving wife of the late Ernest Lara, they were married for 54 years. Fay and Ernie owned Lara Jewelers in Phoenix until retirement.

Fay was involved in the Girl Scouts for over 20 years and was also an active member of Aldersgate Methodist Church. Her favorite activities included playing cards, fishing, attending ASU football games, and trips to Heber and Laughlin.

She is survived by her sons, Charles and David; daughters, Debbie (Michael) Marinshaw and Brenda (Dan) Browne ; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Fay was an exceptional wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She welcomed everyone into her life and will be forever missed.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the loving care our mother received at Hazelwood Manor in Scottsdale, including Hospice of The Valley.

The family requests that any donations made in honor of Fay be directed toward Hospice of The Valley, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, and Aldersgate Methodist Church.

Obituary published in the Arizona Republic.
