Nathan Elliott was born October 6, 1838 in Wane County, Indiana and died February 22, 1893 at his home in Liberty Township. He is buried in the Cole Cemetery in Covert Township. He married Anna Akers Baker, a widow with three small children, in 1880 in Missouri. She was born November 21, 1856 and died February 20, 1920 at her home in Covert Township.
Anna Akers, wife of Nathan Elliot, was born in Virginia and was first married to Beverley Baker and they had three children.
Benjamin Franklin Baker, born October 23, 1874, died December 19, 1880; Dora Adaline Baker, born March 29, 1877, died February 11, 1907, married an Allen on May 9, 1900; Mallissie Bell Baker, born February 27, 1879, died March 9, 1908, married a Ewing on October 18, 1899.
Beverley Baker died October 30, 1878 and Anna then moved to Missouri where she met Nathan Elliott and married him.
Children of Nathan Elliott and wife Anna were Francis Marion, born January 27, 1881 in Washington County, Missouri, died at his home in Liberty Township, December 26, 1937, married Eva Goad, October 1900 in Osborne County; Lillie May, born May 2, 1883 in Liberty Township, died at her home in Natoma, Kansas, August 4 1946, married Alfred Goad, December 4, 1901 in Osborne County; Walter Augustas, born August 18, 1885 in Liberty Township, died January 16, 1968 at his home in Liberty Township, married Georgia Ella McNeal, September 2, 1912 in Osborne County; Gilbert, born December 28, 1888 in Liberty Township, died December 16, 1972 in Russell, married Grace Winder, September 8, 1909 in Osborne County; Rosa Lee, born April 19, 1891 in Liberty Township, married to Wesley Goad, March 14, 1910 in Liberty Township; Delilah Maude, born May 15, 1893 in Liberty Township, died May 10, 1970 in Osborne, married Alexander Hughes Ruble on December 28, 1921 in Osborne County.
Nathan Elliott and wife Anna and small son Francis M. came by covered wagon from Missouri, when Francis was around eight months old, in August or September. He homesteaded a farm in Osborne County, Liberty Township where he and his wife spent the rest of their lives. He was a farmer and they raised all their children on this farm. Their first home was a small frame house. Their closest town was Russell, Kansas. There were few people, no towns or railroads any nearer for several years.
Nathan served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1865. He was a sergeant with Company F, 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry, and was discharged at the age of 27 years. Nathan died when Francis was 12 years old, leaving his wife to raise the six children.
Eva Goad was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Dora Bradshaw Goad.
Georgia McNeal was the daughter of Frank and Mary Goad McNeal.
Grace Winder was the daughter of William and Ida Bradshaw Winder.
Wesley Goad was the son of Perry and Harriett Clutter Goad.
Alfred Goad was the son of Thomas jefferson and Dora Bradshaw Goad.
Alexander Hughes Ruble was the son of Charles Edward and Margaret Case Ruble.
The first generation of descendants have remained in this area. Second and third generations are scattered into other areas and states.
