The son of Jacob and Mary (Coil/Coyle) Lower, he was born in Noble County Indiana, on Nov. 28, 1883 and spent most his life in La Porte. Mr. Lower worked at the Angelo Bernacchi vegetable farm.
In LaPorte on Dec. 8, 1904 he married Lydia Stahlberg. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Day, and Mrs. Melvin Metcalf, both of LaPorte; four sons, Lester, Norman, Austin and Arthur Lower, all of LaPorte; 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Sturgis, Linden, Mich.; Mrs. Myrtle Schroeder, LaPorte; Mrs. Elizabeth Ullery, Mishawaka; Mrs. Flora Buff, North Liberty, and Mrs. Ida Russell, Lacon, Ill.
His wife, two sons, one daughter, two brothers, and one sister preceded him in death.
