Diane was the seventh of twelve children. She married Gene Ricca on February 28, 1950, and the couple raised five sons.

Obituary published in The Advocate on September 4, 2010:
Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Lucerne County, Pa., Diane Ricca passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. She was a devoted Catholic, a member of St. Thomas More parish and retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish Public Library. She is survived by sons Samuel, Michael, Timothy, Peter and Scott Ricca; daughters-in-law, Kathy Ricca and Allison Doherty Ricca; brothers, Donald Cragle and Ralph Cragle; and sisters, Violet Kraus and Minnie Kishbaugh. She was preceded to heaven by her husband, I.E. "Gene" Ricca. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Baton Rouge. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Fidelis for their support and consideration of Diane in her final days.
