Joseph "Joe" Whaley was the son of George Bradford Whaley and Mary Jane Elledge-Whaley.

Joe married Florence Elizabeth Cole daughter of James Monroe Cole and Mary Lucinda Parton-Cole. Joe and Florence were married Oct 1, 1899 in Sevier County, Tennessee.They had the following Children;

1. James Monroe Whaley
2. Daniel Webster Whaley
3. Zola Whaley
4. Whaley

Florence E "Cole" Whaley died Dec 8, 1914 and is buried in Plemmons Cemetery

Joe remarried Sarah Elizabeth Whaley and they divorced.
