Mrs. Augusta Hein passed away at a Madison hospital May 21 at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 21 days. She had been in failing health for several months.
Mrs. Hein was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Gottschalk. She was born in Buzene, Germany, July 26, 1865. She came to this country with her parents in 1867 and since that time this community has always been her home.

She was united in marriage on March 17, 1886, to John Hein of Deerfield, WI, and to this union nine children were born, all of whom are living. The daughters are Mrs. William Taylor and Mrs. Howard Hoffman of Madison, Mrs. Lewis Bronte of Cottage Grove, and Miss Olive at home. The sons are Frank and Ervin of Sun Prairie, Paul and George of Madison, and Herbert of Edgerton, all of whom cherish her memory. Three brothers also survive. They are Paul Gottschalk of Sun Prairie, Herman of Milwaukee, and Henry of La Crosse; and eleven grandchildren. Mrs. Hein has been a faithful member of the Methodist church since youth. She belonged to the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church, also to the American Legion Auxiliary.

Services were held in the Methodist church on Wednesday, May 23, at 10:30 a. m. with the Rev. John L. Walker officiating. Burial was in the village cemetery. The relatives and friends from out of town who attended were Herman Gottschalk and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Spidell of Milwaukee; Mrs. Oscar Hein, Mrs. Victor Hein, and Edward Hein of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. William Hammond of Edgerton; Mr. and Mrs. August Gottschalk of Deerfield; Mrs. Bennie Auby of Stoughton; Mrs. Anna Otto, Mrs. Krugman, Mrs. Raemisch, and Mr. and Mrs. Christian Petterson of Madison; and Mrs. Lillian Andrae of Plainfield.
