Funeral services for William Elmer Elder, 81, who was born here and had lived here all his life, were held Saturday afternoon from the Douglass
Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Marvin Zimbelman, pastor.
Elmer was born in Butler county Sept. 15, 1879 son of pioneer parents, George and Mary Elder. He was
married to Vina Washburn Jan. 23, 1910. Their Golden Wedding anniversary occurred last year.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Asa Cox (Doris), Belle Plaine, and Mrs. Ted. (Carol) Compton, Winfield;
three sons, Warren Elder, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Francis Elder, Douglass; and Paul Elder, Wichita; one sister, Mrs. Virgil Clay, Douglass; and a brother Barton Elder, Ralston, Okla.; six grandchildren, one step grandchild and two step great grandchildren.
Singers for the services were Harry Robinson, Mrs. Chester Davis, Mrs. W. G. Kunkel and Richard Taylor, with whom Mr. Elder had sung for many years. Mrs. C. A. Ogg was organist.
Burial was in the Douglass Cemetery in charge of Hilyard Funeral Home. Bearers were Leo Dunagan, Harold House, Vernon Wallace,
David Whitney, Ray Jones and John R. Jones, Jr.
