Mrs. Mabel Skien Hovey, age 74, one of this communities fine persons, passed away yesterday evening at the Richland Memorial Hospital.
A native of Iowa, Mrs. Hovey was born at Ft. Dodge and was the daughter of John T. Skien and Cecilia Unfenson Skien.
She was married to Cyril J. Hovey Sr. who preceded her in death on May 4, 1969.
Mrs. Hovey was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She leaves five children, Mrs. Arlene Flick of Olney, Mrs. Pauline Chaplin of Lexington, Ky., Mrs. Mary Chaplin of Winterhaven, Fla., Cyril J. Hovey Jr. of Olney and Mrs. Carolyn McClure of East Moline. There are 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters and a brother, Mrs. E. R. Hovey of Richardson, Texas, Mrs. Jesse Olsen of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Dr. John S. Skien of Grants Pass, Oregon.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hovey will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Leaf officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
