She met her husband Stanley Anthony Kundzicz through her half-brother, Maj. Chasteen Bart Craig, US Army, Ret., who was Stanley's Army buddy. They were married 5 May 1941 in Napoleon, Defiance, OH; and lived in Detroit, MI after their marriage. She and Stanley lived in various places after their retirement: Sarasota, FL, Sierra Vista, AZ; Buena Vista and Salida, CO, and finally retired in Las Vegas, NV (and no snow to shovel!); their 2nd eldest daughter & her son were living there also.
Virginia had a sweet nature, she was funny, very intelligent, compassionate, and selflessly generous. She was a secretary by trade and worked many years at various military installations including Ent AFB and NORAD in Colo. Springs, and Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista, AZ. She loved to travel and during the time they were stationed in Germany they traveled to Innsbruck, Austria & Casablanca, Morocco. They lived in Bad Mergentheim & Aschaffenburg, Germany; vacationed at Eibsee Hotel, Eibsee Lake, Germany; and took a boat trip down the Rhine River on Hitler's yacht. In the US they vacationed at Lake of the Ozarks, Washington DC, and Colorado Springs, CO. They fell in love with Colorado Springs, so upon Stanley's retirement in 1959 they moved there with their four daughters, a parakeet and the family dog!
A devoted wife & mother; Virginia was an awesome cook ... nothing compared to her home cooking! At age 85 she was still cooking her family's favorite Polish meals when they came to visit: Golabki (stuffed cabbage rolls in tomato sauce) her daughters called it "gwumpki"; "cutletti" (meatballs in sour cream gravy); Kielbasa w/Kapusta (Polish sausage w/fried cabbage); Potato Pancakes; Babka (cake made w/rum); banana nut bread, and cherry pie!
At age 79 she learned how to use the computer, had her own email & corresponded with family & friends; she learned how to play bridge on-line and spent many, many hours doing that where she made many friends from around the world and corresponded with many via email; and she did her own on-line banking! As I said, she was a remarkable woman. On-line bridge is where Virginia met her companion John ...they were together for three years until her death.
