Mrs. Esther Marie Davis, 77, of Petroleum, sister of Mrs. Glenn (Ethel) Straub of Decatur, died of leukemia at 6:20 p.m. Thursday in Wells Community Hospital, where she had been a patient 18 days.
A member of the Petroleum United Methodist Church, Mrs. Davis also belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and None Such Club.
Born April 14, 1900 in Wells County, she was a daughter of Franklin and Emma Valentine-Dunwiddie. Her marriage to Carl Davis, who died Nov. 11, 1961, took place in Wells County Nov. 21, 1921.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Wanetta) Roush, route 2, Poneto; a son, Myron, route 1, Winchester; a brother, Henry Dunwiddie, route 3, Bluffton; a sister, Mrs. Glenn (Ethel) Straub, Decatur; two half-brothers, Clarence Dunwiddie, Selma; and Merlin Dunwiddie, route 2, Bluffton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Thoma-Rich Funeral Home in Bluffton. Rev. David Terhune will officiate at services at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church. Burial will be in the Stahl Cemetery.
