Purlear - Mr. Wayne Hilton Adams, age 75, of Mozelles Road, Purlear, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at his home. Mr. Adams was born August 10, 1932 in Wilkes County to Dewey and Virginia Wood Adams. He was a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. Mr. Adams was a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother, J.D. Adams and a sister, Joyce Adams.
Surviving are his wife, Maysie Louise Bitner Adams of the home; one son, Stevie Adams and wife Paula of Purlear; one daughter, Sandra Adams Love and husband David of Millers Creek; two brothers, Roby Adams of Millers Creek, Dean Adams and wife Margaret of Purlear; three sisters, Bobbie Benge and husband William of Millers Creek, Carol Stroud and husband Lewis of South Carolina, Faye Hendren and husband Lester of Millers Creek; three grandchildren, Chad Adams and wife Monica of Purlear, B.J. Barker and wife Amanda, Christopher Barker and wife Whitney all of Wilkesboro; and three great grandchildren, Jordan Barker of Wilkesboro, Johnny Adams, Lilly Adams both of Purlear.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 o'clock Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Miller Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock Monday night. The family has requested no flowers.
