WILLIAM LANDLEY "LAN" PENCE was the son of Augustus "Gus" Sr. and Lucinda "Lucy" Sexton Pence. Lan's brothers and sisters were:

Lan and his wife Mary Ellen and their children moved from Carter County to Quincy, Lewis County, Kentucky around 1930.

A retired farmer, Lan died at age 84 while attending evening services at the Quincy Christian Church, his death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church and burial was in the Sunset Cemetery, Quincy.
