Rites Saturday For Elmer Biddinger, 69
Elmer Dale Biddinger, 69, widely known in Jackson township, died at the Memorial Hospital in Greensburg at 1 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 1949.
Mr. Biddinger had entered the hospital on April 5. For the past year he had been in declining health. For the past six years he had reseded on a farm west of Sardinia.
Born in Bartholomew County on Feb. 20, 1880, he was the son of Soloman Wesley and Martha (Wiley) Biddinger. He was married to Mary Brotherton in Elizabethtown in August 1904 and the couple resided on farms in Bartholomew county and in Sandcreed Township in Decatur County for many years. Six years ago he had moved to his present home in Jackson Township in Decatur County.
Mr. Biddinger was a member of the Waynesburg United Brethren Church.
Besides the widow, he is survived by seven children, Mrs. Byron (Martha Ellen) Smith, Mrs. Nolan (Mildred) Allen, Mrs. Barrett (Delores) Fields and Miss Dorothy Biddinger; three sons, Clancy Biddinger, Walter "Doc" Biddinger, Robert Biddinger, John Biddinger; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sardinia United Brethren Church. The Rev. Paul Byard will officiate. Burial will be in the Shirk Cemetery in Jackson Township. Friends may call at the Hostetler Funeral Home in Westport after 8 p.m. Thursday.
