KINSMAN — Zelda L. (Somerville) Mercer, age 94, of Kinsman, Ohio, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at her home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Apollo, Pa., the daughter of John H. and Mary M. (Baker) Black. Mrs. Mercer was a 1932 graduate of Greene Township High School in Commodore, Pa.

A longtime Kinsman resident, she was employed by Target Stamped Products in Kinsman for twenty-six years, retiring in 1976.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andover, where she belonged to the Women's Missionary Union and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. Her hobbies included crafts, reading and flower gardening. She especially enjoyed her violets.

Mrs. Mercer is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Charles) Mercer of Kinsman; her two sons, Bill (Nancy) Somerville of West Lafayette, Ohio, and Herman (Louella) Somerville of Orwell, Ohio; her sister, Erma Rosenberger of Vandergrift, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest L. Somerville; her second husband, Burl C. Mercer; her three daughters, Avonell (Earl) Addicott, Doris (Jack) Mercer and Marion (Mel) Kring; one son, John Somerville Sr.; three granddaughters, Cindy Somerville, Laura Somerville and Jennifer Marsh; three sisters, Grace Heckman, Ida Michaels and Mabel Clark; a brother, Arthur Black; and an infant brother.

A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15th, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL HOME, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be Thursday, May 14th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
