James H. Hickoff, who had been in ill health for the past six months, being compelled to take to his bed about a week ago, died yesterday [3 Jan 1908] afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of his son Thomas J. in this place, where he had been making his home for a number of years. Deceased was 77 years old and is survived by two sons and two daughters: Thomas J. [Mary Jane Crispen] and Mrs. Emma [Frank] Sweitzer of this place; George [Emma Brady] of McElhattan, and Mrs. Joseph [Mary Amelia] Bartholomew of Lock Haven.
Mr. Hickoff was one of Mill Hall's oldest citizens and was well known and highly respected. He came to Mill Hall many years ago and was employed in the axe factory. He was a member of Clinton lodge No. 98 I.O.O.F. and Knights of Pythias at Lock Haven.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church, and interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
