Lena was raised as the daughter of George and Mary Carstetter Hollingsworth. However, in later years she was acknowledged as the daughter of James Henry Hickoff and Mary C. Carstetter Hollingsworth. There is no record of a marriage and/or divorce of James Hickoff and Mary Hollingsworth in Clinton or Centre counties, but James' funeral register lists him as divorced. Lena Hollingsworth/Hickoff was the wife of William Gross. They had three children: Joseph, Mary Kathryn, and Elizabeth R. 1900 census gives Lena's birthdate as Sept 1870, so the stone may be incorrect.

She was born in Mill Hall and was the widow of W.J. Gross. She had lived in Williamsport for many years. She leaves another daughter, Mrs. Edward Swartz [Elizabeth R.], of Allentown, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Following services tomorrow at Williamsport, burial will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
