Mrs. Elsie Beth Connor Edwards, aged 85, passed away 11:40, Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James O'Donnell, 846 N. Jasper Street. She had been in failing health for a number of years, and had been ill and confined to her bed since new years. The immediate cause of her death was pneumonia. She had been in serious condition since last fall. Mrs. Edwards, had been a resident of Decatur ever since 1870, and had seen Decatur grow from a small sized town to it's present size. She cooked meals for the men who laid the sidewalks in Decatur. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 47 years and had a wide acquaintance, her first husband was Edmund R. Collins, who passed away in 1877, to this union one son, C. T. Collins, now of Chicago, was born.

In 1878, she married to Joseph Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1912, to this second union were born, two children, John A. Edwards and Mrs. O'Donnell, both of Decatur, besides her children she leaves nine grandchildren and ten Great Grandchildren, also one Brother Elisha Connor of Leharpe Kansas. The body was taken to Moran's and prepared for burial, funeral arrangements to await the arrival of relatives (from later paper) Funeral services 2: o'clock Friday afternoon, in Moran Chapel were conducted by Rev. F. W. Ingvildstad, burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
